75th Golden Gate Anniversary

It was the Golden Gate Bridges 75th Anniversary on 5/27/2012.

We knew with it being the weekend & such a huge landmark that the city would be packed so

after a lot of debate on whether to go or not, we packed up the SUV with the boys & my parents & headed to San Francisco @ 6 AM.

One of the main reasons I wanted to go was because my parents had taken me to the 50th anniversary.
This was the year that they had a bridge walk & due to so many pedestrains being
on the bridge it actually flattened.

So it was really neat to be there again with not only my parents but now with my kids too.

We went to the bridge first so that we wouldn't hit any crowds.

We were able to find a perfect parking spot so that we wouldn't have to walk that far

(parking lots were closed for this event).

We walked around the new grounds that they had just finished (only hours before)

& were able to check out the history of the bridge there. 

The boys loved that it was so hands on.

Not very stroller friendly though.

The weather was perfect & clear....what more could you ask for on a weekend in the city?

We walked halfway across the bridge.

It was Josh's 1st time walking on the bridge (he's only crossed it in a vehicle a couple times too).

My parents kept Riley occupied by spitting off the side of the bridge & seeing how far you could keep an eye on your spit as it fell (Classic Grandma Move).

Of course, Josh had to join.....it was his 1st time after all.

My mom & I took a mother/daughter picture so we would have a past/present picture.

Daxton was a gem.

I think he dug the beanie.

Chase for whatever reason believed this was candy & so Josh told him to take a bite of it.

(Such a dad thing to say)

After walking back we repacked our gear (grabbed blankets & food)

& then started our walk over to Crissy Fields.

On the way over we came across the SF Mounted Posse horses.

It was Chase's 1st time touching a horse.

Over at Crissy Fields they had classic cars & little things for the boys to check out.

Daxton is like a baby lamb when we feed him sometimes.

We had lots of free Odwala samples that they were handing out

(I think this was the hightlight of Riley's day),

my mom was interviewed for the radio,

& then we hung out on the grass & watched the ship parade.

We saw the San Francisco's mounted posse team at work shutting down illegal vendors that didn't have permits to be selling on state property.

We ended up all getting pretty worn out (it was somewhat chilly)

& the boys ended up taking naps right there by the beach.

We didn't stay for the fireworks show that night (there was no way the boys would have lasted that long),

but it was still a really neat experience & one that I hope at least Riley remembers.
