Riley is growing and getting funnier everyday!
He has started soccer and is starting to really get into it. At the 1st team meeting where we met the coach and the other team mates the coach told the team that they would get to name the team. They all took turns going around and saying the team name that they wanted. When they got to Riley he said " THE JENGA FETS" (from Star Wars). Unfortunately, Riley is the only kid his age on his team that is really into Star Wars so no one even knew what he was talking about. Josh and I just chuckled to ourselves and said "That's Riley for you".
At his practice this past Thursday, while doing some drills Riley did a really great kick with the ball. His coach yelled "WOW, RILEY! Where did that come from?" Riley wasn't sure if he was in trouble or not so he pointed down @ his foot and said "It came from my foot coach." The coach laughed and said "Well Good Job! We need more of that!" Once Riley knew that he wasn't in trouble he was very excited!
At that same practice, the coach was trying to figure out which players to put in what positions. He tried Riley out as a defenseman and thought that he did really well there. The only problem that Riley has is that when the ball isn't in his area and he's waiting for it to come down his way he is super chatty with the other defenseman and goalie. His coach came over and said "Riley, you have to pay attention and watch the ball all the time." That's when Riley said "Okay!" and gave him the "I'm watching you" signal by putting him fingures to his eyes and then to the coach.
Riley has also been into a "what-if" stage.
For example, if I say "Riley you need to make sure that you have your seatbelt on so that your safe and so I don't get a ticket" he will respond with "What if a my seat belt just breaks and then we get in a car accident? Will you get a ticket then?"
Then minute that he starts in with his "what-ifs" Josh and I just say "No what-ifs" or "What if the sky falls rights now in front of our car?". The second he hears us say that he knows to stop with the "what-ifs".
The other day he started in with the "what-ifs" over the sprinklers. I said "Stop. You have to figure out another way to ask your question with no what-ifs.
He sat there for a long time and then said "Okay, If dad fixes the sprinkler and then it breaks.....then what?"
Josh and I just had to laugh when he added then what. he had done exactly what we had asked, but still had to add that to the end.
This last funny thing of the week isn't about Riley or even a catch phrase, but had to be added to this post.
On Saturday we had a family birthday party (pictures to be posted @ a later date) and Riley received some candy and also a sucker from his cake figurine We put Riley to bed and let the dog in as we do every other night. We shut the door to the bathroom since Moose has been pulling all the garbage out of Riley's bathroom garbage can and leaving it for me to clean up in the morning Sunday morning when Josh went downstairs to let the dog out he found the dog with a 1/2 eaten sucker. Josh brought this up to Riley who then told us that Moose had crawled into his room early Sunday morning, stuck his big head in the bag that had the candy in it, grabbed the sucker and crawled back out of Riley's room to eat it. Sure enough, when checking up on Riley's story we foung the bag with the candy torn open due to Moose's big head. Riley's story was confirmed to be true. Here is the guily party! Moose is now known as the "Midnight Bandit" in our home.

I can't believe you only have 10 weeks left. I kept laughing at the computer reading Riley's catch phrases and Chris would say "what?" and then I would read them out loud to him. We miss you guys. My Ryli was just talking about your Riley the other day and saying that she missed playing with him.
That's too funny. Tell Moose that candy was for Riley! lol!
