Riley Turns 8
Riley's 8th birthday was very low key.
Since I had been having so many Braxton Hicks & hadn't been feeling good
+
it was his baptism year
we decided no birthday party, but still asked him repeatedly what he wanted to do.
He said he didn't want to make me have to do a lot & just wanted to do little things as a family
(was turning 8 making him this mature?).
He woke up & got to spend the first part of the day with my parents.
They went out & got slurpees (one of their favorite things to do together) & hung out at their house.
Josh took the second half of the day off of work & came home a little after lunch.
Riley & him went to the movies together & saw Captain America.
They had a great time & Riley came home to tell me all about it.
That evening we sat in the backyard & made smores by the firepit with grandparents.
I thought that Riley would have been dissapointed by such a "normal day" but he said it was one of his more memorable ones...just being able to spend it with his favorite people."
The next day (7/30/2011) we all loaded up in the car & headed to Chico, CA.
My best friend / Riley's "girlfriend" lives there & we ended up all
going miniature golfing to celebrate Riley turning 8.
She even made him these yummy cupcakes that turned our mouths blue/ green for the day.
