Bass Lake 2008

Some good friends, The Alvies, invited our family to their Annual Family Bass Lake trip the week of August 17th. They invited us there for a week, but Josh was only able to get a day off so we went Saturday-Monday. It was so relaxing & we had a lot of fun. On the drive up there Riley had to pee so bad. We were following Jenni & Chris because we had never been to Bass Lake & we didn't want to get lost. We kept telling Riley to hold on just a little longer. The whole group pulled off the freeway to find a place to eat and Josh was talking to Riley to keep his mind off of having to go to the bathroom. They started talking about a cartoon where the character Chowder has to go to the bathroom too. Chowder eventually gets to jump in the ocean & pee in there. When Riley remembered that part he said "Just throw me in the ocean! I'm gonna pee my pants!" We pulled into a Marie Calendar's parking lot and he ran to the bathroom.

Riley sleeping while we unloaded everything.

The kids loved getting dirty!

Especially Cade

Riley loved the water & was pretty adventurous out there. Chris & Cade

Everyone loved the hammock that the Larsons brought.

Once the kids were bathed they were not allowed to touch the ground.
Riley also found a finger pirate in some bushes by the cabin. He thought it was so cool. One of the mornings that we were there the kids watched The Indian in the Cupboard. Riley decided to put his pirate in a cupboard to see if he would come alive. On the way home he remembered that he had forgotten it, but thankfully I was able to call and let them know about it. He was so relieved when he got it back.
Jenni & I sun-bathed every day while the kids took naps. Everyday we got a little more attention and by the third day we got a honk, a whoohoo, and a bye ladies from a guy that was leaving in a boat. We'll have to see what we can get next year:)

I love the finger pirate. Is there anyone who doesn't think Riley is freakin' hilarious and the best kid ever?
